The Vail School District, Sycamore Elementary, and our NEHS Members support The Fisher House, a non-profit organization that provides on-site housing to the families of veterans while they receive care in our VA hospitals. The Tucson VA Hospital (SAVAHCS) will be home to the Arizona Fisher House, providing a “home away from home” to military and veteran families, and we can help the Fisher House reach their 3 million dollar goal by donating as little as $1.00 per family. Please help us honor our Veterans by considering a donation to their foundation.
How can you help? Sycamore students can turn in donations to their classroom teacher or drop them off in the front office. When a donation is received, a red, white or blue flag will be hung in the office to honor a service member of your choosing.

Join us in celebrating Red Ribbon Week!
Red Ribbon Week was established to honor Enrique Camarena, a drug enforcement officer who gave his life in the fight against drugs. The Red Ribbon became the symbol to reduce the use of illegal drugs and violence. At Sycamore, we will celebrate the choice of living a healthy life free of drugs and violence through various events. We encourage you to talk with your student about the week and the following activities. You are also more than welcome to attend our activities. Click here for our events!
Corona Foothills Middle School is still in need of donations for their fabulous Fall Festival! Donations of candy, and baked goods would be greatly appreciated! Click here for more information. We hope to see you on Friday, October 24th!
Dear Sycamore Parents/Guardians,
We want to inform you that your child will be receiving the Federal Impact Aid Survey on October 15th. Federal Impact Aid supports local school districts with concentrations of children who have parents/guardians in the uniformed services or parents/guardians employed on eligible Federal Properties. For more detailed information on Eligible Federal Properties, visit the Vail District website at http://vail.k12.az.us (under Upcoming Events).
We are asking that ALL Sycamore parents, even those who are not employed by the federal government, to return their completed forms by October 21st, 2014. Sycamore School will receive credit for every form turned in, including those from non-federal employees. Any funds raised from Federal Impact Aid will go directly to Sycamore Elementary School. This is an excellent opportunity for Sycamore to receive supplementary money for educational purposes! We are looking for 100% return of these forms.
Thank you for your continued support. If you have additional questions, you may contact Michelle Quiroz, Director of Finance, at (520) 879-2021, or Esther Lubben, Computer Systems Analyst, at (520) 879-3936.

Weather reports indicate that we could receive heavy rains over the next few days which may impact bus transportation to Sycamore. If buses are not able to get to Sycamore, we will safely house students at school until a parent or designated family member is able to pick them up.
Depending on weather conditions, after school activities may also be canceled.
Weather is unpredictable. As of now, we are continuing with our plans for National Honor Society Induction and Family Reading Night.
