Important Messages

Dear Families,

A couple of important messages…

E-Mail – This week, Vail School District has been experiencing problems with our e-Mail server.  E-Mails have been sporadically coming through, but sending e-Mails has been a problem.  If you have been trying to contact someone at school via e-Mail, please be patient.  We will respond to you as soon as we are able to.  If you need to speak with someone at school, please feel free to call our front office at 520-879-2502, and our front office will transfer your call.

Sycamore’s Bunny Run – We’re sorry to say that we have canceled the Bunny Run that was to take place this Saturday, March 28th.  If you signed up for the Bunny Run and made payment, our PTA will be in contact with you and will refund your money.  You can contact our front office at 520-879-2502 if you have any questions.

Thank you so much for your patience!

It’s hard to believe that Benchmark III testing is right around the corner, during the week of February 16th – 20th.  Each quarter before Benchmarks, we ask our students to complete our Benchmark Review Parent Handbooks.  These handbooks are used as a review to help your son or daughter prepare for Benchmarks, as well as a great educational tool to keep parents informed on our current objectives.  Below you will find a link to the Parent Handbooks for second – fifth grades.  As always, if you have any questions about any of the material found in these, please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s teacher.

Important Message about Pertussis

February 2, 2015

Dear Sycamore and Corona Families,

Today we received confirmation from the Pima County Health Department (PCHD) that a Sycamore student tested positive for pertussis (whooping cough).

This is the first confirmed case in our area this school year. Please see attached letter from PCHD for details.

If you suspect your child is ill, please keep them home and contact your medical care provider for further guidance. Preventative measures are the most effective means to slow the spread of any illness.

It is possible that if additional cases of Pertussis are confirmed at Sycamore within the near future, PCHD will require all non-immunized students will be required to stay home for 21 days.

Please make sure that your son/daughter’s immunization records are up to date, and consider having your son/daughter immunized if he/she has not been vaccinated.

Attached is the Pertussis notification letter that has been provided from the Pima County Health Department. The information contained in this letter includes symptoms for you to watch for, as well as information about the spread of this illness.

If you have any questions about our District or school procedures, please feel free to contact Ken Graff at 879-2504 or Margaret Steuer at 879-3504.

Thank you,

Ken Graff                                      Margaret Steuer
