Bus Incident

Dear Parents:

This afternoon, December 11, 2014, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department was contacted by a Vail bus driver.  The driver reported hearing students talk about having a gun on the bus.  The driver pulled the bus over and contacted 911.  The Sheriff’s Department responded.

Deputies interviewed students on the bus and verified that there was no gun.  It was determined that two older students were “joking” to alarm other students on the bus.

The two students who created the disturbance were cited by the Sheriff’s Department and released to their parents.

Comments regarding the safety of our students and staff are taken seriously. Please use this incident to talk to your student about the seriousness of making comments about weapons.

I encourage you to call Ken Graff, Principal of Sycamore, or Margaret Steuer, Principal of Corona Foothills Middle School, if you have any questions or concerns.
