February is an exciting month as we celebrate Vail Pride Day, conduct Parent Teacher conferences, and take a couple days off for Rodeo:) And if that’s not enough, we have Benchmark Testing the week February 19th and Kindergarten Roundup on February 28. Definitely one our busiest months!
Vail Pride Day is an amazing event which celebrates the students, volunteers and staff of the Vail School District. I highly encourage you to attend. Vail Pride is on Saturday, February 17th from 9 am- 4 pm at the Pima County Fairgrounds. Sycamore’s Band will be performing at 9 am and Choir and Orchestra will perform at 10:15 am. in Thurber Hall. I hope to see you there as we celebrate Vail Pride Day 2018- Weaving Our Legacy.
Kindergarten Round-up is scheduled for Wednesday, February 28 at 5 pm. We look forward to welcoming our newest Stingers to Sycamore. Students may start Kindergarten if they turn 5 years old by September 1, 2018. Our front office staff will greet new families and answer questions about registration. Parents will have the opportunity to meet our kindergarten teachers and visit the classrooms. It’s always an exciting event:)
The Arizona Department of Education has posted information about AzMERIT on the their website. I encourage parents of 3rd-5th grade students to explore the Parent/Student tab and take sample assessments. It provides a clear perspective of the computer-based assessment students will see when they take the AzMERIT in April. Sycamore will provide further communication to families at Parent/Teacher Conferences as test schedules are finalized.
I am proud to be part of Sycamore. Thank you to our parents, staff, and students for making Sycamore such a positive learning environment.
