Happy New Year! The new year is off to a tremendous start. It’s amazing to think about all of the things that students have already accomplished since the start of the school year, and I look forward to celebrating more achievements as the year progresses. I am proud of how our students have gotten quickly back into the swing of the new year and are showing their best efforts inside and outside of the classroom.
I’d to like to thank the many families that donated their Tax Credit donations to Sycamore. Your generosity is truly appreciated and directly supports the many student activities that are offered for our students. Tax credit donations for 2016 can be accepted up to April 15.
It’s hard to believe but the hundredth day of school is on Friday, January 13. We are going for 100% attendance on this day! As we get started with the new quarter, it’s important to restate the importance of regular school attendance and the obvious role it plays in learning and achievement. Please make sure that your your child has regular attendance. In addition, it is critical that students begin each day ready to go in the classroom by being on time to school. Even missing the first five minutes of class can potentially put a child at a disadvantage for the remainder of the day.
Parent-Teacher conferences are right around the corner. Parent-Teacher conferences are scheduled for February 9 and 10th. This time provides us the opportunity to strengthen and reaffirm our partnership with each other in relationship to the education of your child. During conferences, teachers will share 2nd Quarter Progress Report grades and other general information on classroom performance. If at your conference your teacher recommends assistance for your child in the core areas of Math and Reading, tutoring classes are currently being offered after-school for grades 2nd-5th.
I look forward to a successful second half of the school-year as we continue to work to meet the goals we have established for ourselves. Thank you again parents for your continued support and involvement in our school.
