AzMERIT (Arizona’s state-wide assessment) will be administered to our 3-5th grade students during the month of April. Rather than this being a time of anxiousness, I like to think of this as a time to be excited. Teachers will support students by continuing to provide instruction and motivating them to do their best. Teachers will be sending home the scheduled dates of when their class will be testing. Each class will only have three days of testing during the assessment window. Attendance during these dates is critical. Parents can support us by limiting appointments that may pull students from class. In addition, it is important for students to arrive at school on time, so they do not miss the beginning of the day and start off behind. Parents can also visit the following website to view AzMERIT practice tests: http://www.azed.gov/assessment/azmerit/
Wednesday, April 3: AzMERIT Writing for 3-5 grades
Thursday, April 11: 4th Grade AIMS Science
Wednesday, April 17: AzMERIT Reading Part I and Math Part I
Thursday, April 18: AzMERIT Reading Part II and Math Part II
Week of April 22: AzMERIT Make-ups
It’s also that time of year to be thinking about next year. Please look in the May Stinger for the teacher request process. Teacher requests will be accepted during the week of April 29. Tentative staffing assignments for the 2019-2020 school year will be completed by that time and teacher bios will be placed on Sycamore’s website.
Thank you again for your continued support!
