November is almost here! It’s one of my favorite months because it’s during this time that we reflect on the many things we are thankful for at Sycamore.
First, we have amazing students. Each day they are presented with a challenging curriculum and a substantial workload. Concepts can be difficult but they work through their struggles even when they want to give up. Perseverance is a trait that I greatly admire, and our Sycamore students have tons of it!
Our wonderful parents and community are extremely generous. I am so thankful for all of the little things they do to support Sycamore and their children. Attending PTA events, Parent/Teacher conferences, donations to classroom, volunteering time, getting children to school on time…all of these examples factor into their children’s performance and connections they make to their school. We are are also looking forward to our 9th Annual 5K Spooky Run on Saturday, October 28th at 8 am. It’s sure to be great fun. We hope to see you there!
I’d also like to ask for parents to support our PTA sponsored Math-a-Thon. Proceeds from this year’s fundraiser will be used to purchase a Chromebook mobile lab and fund grants for classroom projects. On November 3, students will take their Math-a-Thon quiz and share their success with their sponsors. Our goal is to raise $20,000. This will be the only fundraiser for the entire school year. I thank you in advance for your support.
I’m thankful for our wonderful Sycamore staff. They truly teach from their hearts and have a deep commitment to our students. Our staff reinforces students when they want to give up, comforts students when they’re having a tough day, and celebrates daily successes. They truly make a difference in the lives of our students!
Lastly, I’d like to acknowledge Sycamore’s community for earning the recognition of being an A School from the Arizona Department of Education. I’m proud to be associated with such an amazing group of students, staff, parents and community members. We truly have a special school.
