Jennifer Cupell – First Grade Teacher

I am very proud to be a fifth generation Tucsonan. I was born and raised on the Eastside of Tucson. I went to Sabino High School, where I graduated in 1993, and then went on to the University of Arizona for my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education where I graduated in 1998. It was then that I was hired in the Vail School District and began my lifelong dream of teaching !! After getting a year of teaching experience I went back to school and received my Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from the NAU Tucson Program ! I am now finishing up my 19th year of teaching. I am a proud mom to a fifth grader at Sycamore and soon to be sixth grader at Corona Foothills named Austin ! I am also a wife to a very tall Corona de Tucson Firefighter named Todd.

I love teaching because of the wonderful children I get to work with everyday !!
I really strive to be the teacher every child wants to have as well as the teacher that every parent wants for their child !! I try to balance a structure but soft atmosphere while keeping a schedule that is very routine based. I feel that most children are the most comfortable in a setting where they know what the day looks like and can predict what they will be doing next. As a parent, I know how important and precious our children are to us and I am very honored daily that parents are entrusting their child to me. I make all daily decisions and judgments in accordance on how I would like my own son’s teacher to do so. I work everyday to challenge every child in their own way and recognize how each and every one of them have their own special gifts.
