I am originally from Windsor, Connecticut. At the age of 8 my family and I moved to Phoenix, Arizona. I graduated from the University of Arizona in 2002. I have been married for 15 years and have two beautiful daughters.
After graduating from the University of Arizona I began my teaching career working for the Deer Valley Unified School District in Phoenix. I taught 5th grade there for two years before moving to Vail. I began teaching at Sycamore where I have now been for the past 13 years. I began my time here at Sycamore teaching fifth grade for four years. During that time I served as instructional team leader, a cognitive coach for new teachers, a mentor for a student teacher, and received my Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership. Also during this time my oldest daughter was born. A year after her birth I made the tough decision to leave the classroom so I could stay home. That did not last long though; I missed teaching and Mr. Graff offered me an opportunity I could not pass up. I was asked to return to teach the S.U.M.S. class (Students Understanding Math and Science) part time. I thoroughly enjoyed my time in SUMS where I was not only able to work with all the students at Sycamore, but was also able to teach what I am passionate about: math and science.
I am now working as the Extended Learning Program and Enrichment teacher where have I been for the past eight years. Teaching ELP and Enrichment has been an amazing experience. One of the best parts of my job is getting to watch my students grow through the years. My primary goal in my classroom is to make sure each student is challenged in an environment where they feel safe and valued. I enjoy every moment with my students as we encourage each other to reach new levels.
