I’m so excited and honored to be returning to Sycamore after more than 10 years away. When I first arrived at Sycamore I was a new teacher who was awed by the magic I saw going on in the classrooms. It was at this school that I learned the teaching practices and classroom management techniques that I still use today. I love Sycamore’s positive culture and focused emphasis on what’s best for kids. During my time away, I completed my graduate degree, worked as a child development specialist in a hospital, and taught at Arizona’s first school district in Prescott.
Although this will be my twelfth year of teaching, I realize that I still have a lot to learn! I enjoy learning with and from my students and building a close knit classroom family. In my own classroom, accountability and respect are very important themes. I encourage children to not be afraid to make mistakes, to push their limits, and to change their expectations about themselves.
In my free time, I love to visit fun places with my kids and spend time with family. I also enjoy watching movies (especially old black-and-whites) and reading engaging fiction. I’m confident that my own two children will thrive at this outstanding school. I look forward to reentering the Sycamore community.
