I began my teaching career in the year 2001. Each school year, I feel like I learn just as much as my students do, and I realize that I still have a lot to learn! I enjoy connecting with my students and building a close knit classroom family. Accountability and respect are very important to me. I encourage children to take risks and to make mistakes, to push their limits, and to change their expectations about themselves. Fifth grade is such a year of growth and self-discovery.
In my free time, I love to visit fun places with my children and spend time with family and friends. I also enjoy watching movies, especially musicals and old black-and-whites. I am an avid reader of fiction, poetry, and anything else I can get my hands on.
It is an honor to teach in such an amazing school district with so many talented and experienced colleagues. My own two children attend Sycamore and I am so impressed with the dedication of the staff here. I love Sycamore’s positive culture and focused emphasis on what’s best for kids. I look forward to all of the new learning opportunities the 2018-2019 school year will bring.
