Sarah Hecht – Third Grade Teacher

Hello Families! I have lived in the Vail area for past 11 years. I am married to my wonderful husband and we have two beautiful daughters, Katie (7) and Hailey (5). I grew up in California and attended San Diego State University where I received my Bachelors of Arts in Liberal Studies and completed my graduate work in the Teacher Credential Program. I have spent most of my professional career teaching in the primary grade levels with seven years spent in the First and Second Grades. This will be my fifth year at Sycamore in a third grade classroom. I love the work I do and get great satisfaction in watching my students grow.

While at Sycamore I have had the opportunity to be on the leadership team. I am the Instructional Team Leader for third grade and this allows me to grow not only as educator but also as a leader. I am also a Math Coach, who helps to assist new teachers into the transition of the rewarding world of teaching in the area of math.  In addition to leadership, I am the advisor for two clubs at Sycamore, Peace Patrol and Stinger Kitchen. Peace Patrol helps students remain safe on campus while transitioning from our MPR to the playground. Stinger Kitchen teaches the basics of nutrition, kitchen safety, and basic cooking skills.

Outside of teaching, I love spending time with my family and enjoying the outdoors. Some of my favorite outdoor activities include running, hiking, biking, riding quads and the Rhino, and going to different festivals. One of my favorite hobbies includes baking, especially cookies. I love having my little helpers in the kitchen with me and teaching them the fun they can have with cooking.
