Theresa Stone – Second Grade Teacher

Working with children is my passion! This is my sixth year at Sycamore, and my sixteenth year in the teaching profession. In my time here, I have served on the Core Team Committee, the Vail Cadre Committee and the Student Solutions Team, as well as coached the Girls on the Run program for 3rd-5th grade girls. My goal is to continue bringing energy and enthusiasm to everything I do!

I grew up in California, where I met my husband in 1986. Our daughter was born in 1987, shortly before we moved to New Jersey. Our journey brought us to Tucson in 1997, where I volunteered in my daughter’s school. I so enjoyed working with the students, I knew this is what I wanted to do! I went back to school and received my teaching certification from the University of Arizona in 2002, and began my first job in education that fall. Since then, I’ve been so fortunate to work with wonderful students, parents, and colleagues!

I love being a teacher for many different reasons. First, I want to make a difference and inspire students to reach their highest potential. Also, teaching is a career that allows for daily growth and learning, and that’s so exciting to me. I tell my students every day that I love my job because it keeps me on my toes and feeling young!

When I’m not in the classroom, I enjoy traveling, hiking, morning runs, teaching Jazzercise classes, and spending time with my family.
